This a collaborative project that looks to dive deeper into all things related to experimental music making and listening in the countries subject to dictatorial regimes in Europe between 1950 and 2000.

UNEARTHING THE MUSIC unites five organizations from five different European countries in pursuit of the history and the stories of European experimental music

OUT.RA

Portugal

OUT.RA – Associação Cultural is the author and organizer of UNEARTHING THE MUSIC, and also organizes the OUT.FEST festival and regular concerts in the city of Barreiro, Portugal.

Skaņu Mežs

Latvia

Skaņu Mežs (Sound Forest) organizes the oldest and largest annual innovative music festival in the Baltic states, as well as sound art exhibitions and educational activities in Riga, Latvia.

MTA-BTK

Hungary

The MTA Research Centre for the Humanities has a rich history in the study of European culture and in conducting a wide range of highly relevant projects such as COURAGE and others.

Jumătatea plină

Romania

Jumătatea plină is a cultural organization which stages a diverse set of events in Bucharest, Romania from lectures, workshops and live concerts to sound installations, and most recently the Sound Week festival.

Radio Belgrade 3

Serbia

Part of the Radio Television of Serbia, Radio Belgrade 3 is a key figure in the promotion and dissemination of contemporary artistic practices in Serbia for the past 50 years.
